In WSKF Australia we follow a standard system of grades across the country. We have a kyu grade system comprising 9 grades from white through to brown belt and then Dan (Black) belts beyond that. For our very young members we have a modified "striped" system that they follow until they move across to the kyu system.
Normally there is a 3 month period between grades and examinations are held regularly, usually as a group with clubs in close geographical proximity.
To attempt any WSKF (Aust.) grading, one must be a current registered member.
